Tim Bustin

Managing Director

Tim is an experienced project manager and team leader. He has developed quality standards for project management 'best practice'.

Before Fen, Tim successfully managed several Digital TV product development products for Symbionics, including Toshiba's DVB-T STB for ITV Digital. He also led teams developing software for DVB test equipment and products with an embedded internet browser.

Starting as a hardware engineer developing professional Cable TV headend receivers, Tim worked at Amstrad as a project manager and later design engineering manager for high volume Satellite TV products.

Tim graduated from Queen Mary College, University of London, in 1984 with a degree in Electronic Engineering.

Ciaran McAleer

Business Director

Ciaran is a co-founder of Fen Technology. He has responsibility for business development and company marketing.

Prior to joining Fen, Ciaran held a number of technical and commercial roles for companies such as Maxim Integrated Products, Marconi and Nokia and IBM. His last role before joining Fen was as Business Manager in the wireless and multimedia group of Tality (formerly Symbionics).

Ciaran graduated from Glasgow University in 1996 with a European Masters degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

Niels Thomsen

Technical Director

Niels has spent most of his career in embedded systems development, usually in the murky waters of hardware/software integration and device driver development.

Since moving to England in 1984, Niels has worked for a number of companies in and around Cambridge playing key roles in the design and development of digital TV products, industrial automation systems, inspection systems, mobile data communications systems and audio-visual products.

Niels is an Electronics Engineering graduate of Copenhagen Technical College.

Paul Buggs

Development Director

Paul’s product development experience varies from low volume products - including Biosensors, Scanning Electron Microscopes & Infrared Line Scanners - to high volume products such as digital TV and wireless consumer devices.

Since 1983 he has held senior positions in both product and consultancy companies in the Cambridge area.

Paul graduated from Brunel University with a Masters degree in Microelectronics System Design.

Derek Law

Software Director

Derek has developed software ranging from full applications & system software to device drivers & custom embedded code. He has experience in design, implementation and documentation on multiple operating systems including custom devices, PDAs & hardware development platforms.

First venturing south from Manchester in 1981, he has worked for various software and hardware companies in and around Cambridge.

Derek is a Computational Science graduate of Leeds University and a Chartered IT Professional.
