Co-operation develops digital TV test

4th March 2005

CAMBRIDGE, England — Electronic design services company, Fen Technology, has delivered production-ready software and digital hardware to enable Swires Research to bring to market a combined Terrestrial (DVB-T) and Satellite (DVB-S) spectrum analyser, based on a suite of STMicroelectronics digital TV and memory products.

The ANNIE 204 analyser is a portable, battery-powered spectrum analyser and decoder that enables the user to scan the satellite and terrestrial frequency spectrums for analogue and digital TV channels. The user can then simultaneously make signal quality measurements, output the associated audio and display the video and spectrum, using picture-in-picture format.

Chris Swires, managing director at Swires Research, said, "Fen Technology worked closely with us to help specify and design a cost-effective, high quality solution for our customers, based on ST Silicon. I see this as the first of many successful product developments Swires and Fen will work on together."

According to Derek Law, Software Director at Fen Technology his company's "relationship with ST and knowledge of their products and development systems have allowed us to support Swires on a low risk path from specification to production."
